59th Birthday Song (Feeling UN Groovy!)

Actually, I don't feel too bad, certainly not OLD! I used to think of where my Dad was at my age? Born during The Battle of the Somme on 11 July 1916, so he was my age now in 1975. I was 21 & thought the idea of being 30 let alone reaching the 21st  Century was ludicrous.

There used to be a time when most rock stars DID die before they got old, but now they are reaching personable age. Reg Presley of The Troggs was the most recent of my heroes to pass away at 71 I think?

Now I'm sitting with my friend Pauline listening to 'Yesterday.' Time to stop before sentiment becomes maudlin.

Whippets on Devonshire Street (Memories of My Mum)

Last night, walking past the Trinity, a lady talking two Whippets passed me. I told her seeing Whippets always makes me think of my Nana and my Mum and "Sandy", our Whippet, though he was really Nana's.

We had to put him to sleep just before I left England in October, 1978. I came home one arvo to see Nana sitting with Mum on the settee together.

'I've lost my pal,' she said.

They are all gone now. Does that sound maudlin? I have only had two schooners of Coopers since 7 30 & it is 00.10 now. One in the Strawberry Hills and one in the Royal Exhibition

Time to go home!

I am sick of the noise in here tonight.

The awful songs in the karoake and the volume they play and sing. Why am I here? Because of her. Because I d not feel secure enough to just get up and say ,"I hate it here and I am going home. But that is not my role. I HAVE to sit but not speak. Listen well but do not comment.
